Getting Along

Mathew is becoming more "interactive" each day. He gets a huge kick out of watching his big brother, and Nathan gets a big kick out of being watched. Last night Nathan spent about 10 minutes giving Mathew crawling lessons. Nathan demonstrated crawling several times saying, "Like this, Mathew". After each demonstration, Mathew would push up high on his arms, then flop down on his belly and flap his arms and legs around wildly. Then he would stop and look at Nathan as if to say, "Like this?". It was great entertainment just watching them.

Here's a picture of Mathew, now 6 months old. He's usually grinning when he can see Nathan.

And here's a picture of everyone getting along beautifully. The fact that they each have their own toys could have something to do with it! Construction equipment for Nathan and animals for Mathew. We'll see if they continue to get along when they both want the same toys!

Zoo Boo

We took the boys to Zoo Boo at the Como Zoo on Saturday. Each borther thought the other was pretty funny dressed as a green dinosaur.
Mathew was pretty content to ride through the zoo in his stroller.
Nathan wasn't so sure about all the volunteers dressed up as animals singing and dancing throughout the zoo. He turned very serious, holding his pumpkin out at each of the stations and saying "Trick or Treat".
Nathan couldn't pass up an opportunity to sit on a HUGE pumpkin and ROAR!
And of course, every visit to Como Zoo ends with a ride on the turtle statue!

Field Trip

Nathan went on his first school field trip on September 20, 2008. The preschoolers were headed to the apple orchard! Nathan got to ride a school bus for the first time! Chris and I went as chaperones. Here he is standing in front of the bus with Chris.

Nathan boarded the bus with the other children. Those are some big steps!
I got to ride the bus with Nathan on the way out, Chris rode with him on the way back.
Nathan was a pro at apple picking. He perfected the "lift and twist" method that they taught the kids.
No trip to the apple orchard would be complete without a hayride!

Sweet Potatoes

After rice cereal and oatmeal, which were uneventful, Mathew moved on to sweet potatoes. The first couple bites were met with skeptisim and doubt. He seemed to be contemplating the taste and texture. Based on the faces he was making, we thought for sure they were a no-go.

But after a few more bites, Mathew errupted into smiles. The sweet potatoes weren't so bad after all. Is there anything that makes this kid really unhappy? Well, yes... long rides in the car make him downright angry.

Mr. Mathew

Mathew continues to be a very fun little man. He finds everything laughable and reponds to most questions with a slow smile. Here he is with a green hippo on his head. He's giggling because I have a blue elephant on mine!

Mathew loves to read books, something he has in common with his big brother. He even gets the books right side up most of the time.
