The Dreaded "Why?"
For the last several weeks, Mathew's favorite word/question has been "Why?" Usually he fires off multiple "Whys" before I can even finish my answer. And when I've given my answer, he follows up with another "Why?"
This week, he has graduated from "Why?" to the more persistent and demanding, "Why, Mama, Why?" It's very cute... the first dozen times.

Mathew Says
Mathew was on our driveway and was desperately trying to get his brother's attention. Nathan was in a neighbor's yard across the cul-de-sac. Mathew planted his feet, leaned forward, and yelled, "NAY-TIN!!!"
This caught me by surprise. Mathew has always called Nathan "Nah-Nah". This is the first time he has been able to say something that sounds like "Nathan". The little guy is growing too fast. (sigh)

Fishing Lily Lake
We took the boys fishing this morning at Lily Lake. There were tons of little fish around the dock. Mathew and Nathan both caught fish using bread on their hooks. After the 4th or 5th fish, they lost interest and spent the rest of the time throwing bread bits into the water and watching the fish gobble them up.

May Flowers
Mathew helped me plant annuals in the front yard. He didn't want to dig holes, he just wanted to hold onto the plants until it was time to plop them in the ground.

He also helped me start vegetables from seed. He wanted to horde all the little seed packets like playing cards.

My knee was the perfect bench for him to sit on while we worked.

His little fingers were perfect for poking holes for the seeds.

And of course, watering was his favorite part.
