Raspberry Picking

We went Raspberry picking at Afton Orchard on Sunday. Nathan started the adventure with a hayride with Dad, which he thoroughly enjoyed! Then he joined me and Mathew out in the raspberry patch. We decided to try the yellow berries, instead of the red or pink. Nathan is a great raspberry picker! He ate his way up and down the rows, grabbing ripe fruit and fillng his belly.

Nathan wanted to pick an entire pint of berries all by himself. I had to expain to him that he'd never fill up his "bucket" if he kept eating the berries! Notice he only has a few berries in his container!

Finally, he let me help him fill his pint. It was hard work! I picked as fast as I could, but the container never got more than half full, since Nathan was eating as fast as I was picking!

And of course, on our way out, we had to get a picture of Nathan on the apple growth chart

The Farm

Karen invited me and the boys to her parents' farm last weekend (9/13) while our husbands were out hunting in Wisconsin. Despite the weather (it rained ALL weekend long), we had a great time. If you ask Nathan what he did on the farm, he'll tell you all about his tractor ride. "Grandpa T." took Nathan out on the tractor and let him drive, move dirt, and scoop up scrap. Nathan was all smiles for the rest of the day.

Mr. Mathew spent most of the weekend indoors, on his belly. He is getting stronger everyday. He likes to make himself "taller" by pushing himself up on his hands. This allows him to look his doggie pal right in the eyes when he's babbling to him.

The Things Kids Say

The weather is getting cooler, so Nathan got to wear his new John Deer shirt that we bought at the State Fair. He loves it and likes to remind us that he now has a John Deere shirt, "Just like Uncle Nathan!". It's amazing what he remembers.

A couple nights ago I was putting Nathan to bed. He tooted and then sat up in bed to inform me, "Mom, I tooted, but there wasn't a lump in it, so I don't have to poop."

Stripe Update

Mr. Mathew continues to lose his hair in a striped pattern. Just for fun, we brushed his stripes out! The hair on the back of his head, which used to be thick and long, is now thin and short!

Harvey Huddle

Grandma and Grandpa Harvey came to visit for the long weekend. We packed an awful lot of fun into those three little days! Highlights included the Aquarium at MOA (and maybe a few rides too) and the State Fair!

Here's a shot of Nathan checking out the huge Stingrays. Everyone got to touch a baby stingray too.

Nathan got to hold lots of butterflies at the State Fair. There were butterflies everywhere! Here he is holding one in his hand.

There was also plenty of time to hang out and just be goofy. Mathew kept everyone entertained with his big smiles, while Nathan taught Grandma and Grandpa lots of new dance moves!
