School Days

Today was the first day of the new school year. I realize that it seems silly to make a fuss over this day since the boys attend Miniapple year round as a Montessori/daycare. But still, the start of the school year means saying goodbye to the summer program of biweekly fieldtrips, Mondays at the library, Soccer lessons on Fridays, and the more relaxed atmosphere. It also means saying goodbye to the infant room as Mathew prepares for new adventures with the Toddlers.

Back to the regular routine of lessons and "works" for Nathan in his second year of preschool, and a whole new year of learning and independence in the Toddler room for Mathew. Where does the time go?

So here are my two boys, ready for the first day of school...

Strangely, my heart is both happy and a little sad.

Little Chicken

I found this chicken costume at a second hand store. I brought it home, wondering if Mathew would scream when I put it on him. Turns out, he loves being a chicken!!! Everytime I get the costume out, he drops everything and runs over to put it on! I hope it still fits when Halloween rolls around.

Curb Appeal

Mathew loves to sit on the curb, mostly because it is just the right height for him. As soon as he gets out of the house, he heads down the driveway and crosses the street (with me) to sit on the cul-de-sac curb. Two months ago, the curb was a little too high for him to sit comfortably and his feet didn't touch the ground... now it's a perfect fit.

A Toddler Already???

Mathew has been spending time visiting the toddler room in preparation for his big move up at the end of the month. He has been playing with them at recess, eating lunch at the little tables, and today he napped with the toddlers! He was the first one asleep on his little cot. He is sooo ready to be a toddler. I'm not sure I'm ready though....
